How Do I Get Over Him?

I like this boy, but he moved away, and every time I look at someone that looks like him, I always feel sad because he's gone. What should I do to really get over him?

Dear Nina,

People will give you all sorts of tips and hints, like keep busy or focus on a hobby or run around the block (my mom!), but there’s really only one thing that helps in this case: time! Do all the things you should to stay a part of it all: go to parties and school activities, meet new people, work on your studies, check out new books. And when you see someone who looks like him and your heart jumps, enjoy that feeling for a bit, too. He was probably a nice guy, and there’s no reason to forget him completely. Just try not to let that feeling take over your life! Try instead to pair it up with something happy. Like every time you see someone like him, give a little giggle, or think of a funny picture! Pretty soon, it will automatically make you happy instead of sad, and that’s a much better way to remember someone you liked! Good luck!
