Idol's a Changin'!!!
Dec 15, 2008 American Idol is making some changes to make the show bigger and better than ever!!! This year AI is welcoming a new judge, Songwriter Kara DioGuardi, to add some spice at the judging table. In the semi-final round, instead of the top 24 competing for a spot in the finals, 36 contestants will be hashing it out for the top 12 - more for us to love! They’ve also decided to spare us the horror of the audition episodes by showing fewer of them and more of the Hollywood round! To keep us on our toes, AI is bringin’ back the wildcard round!!! This way if one of our favorites gets voted out in the semi-final round, we have the power to bring them back and give them a shot at the title!!! Unfortunately there is one change that we are a little sad about. “Idol Gives Back”, the charity show that American Idol airs every year, will now only be featured every other year. This year they have cut it out of the program, but it will return for Season 9!!! We’re excited for the new changes and will definitely be watching the Season 8 Premiere on January 13th on Fox!!! New Moon, New Director! Dec 15, 2008
“Twilight” has found a new director for “New Moon Rising”!!! Chris Weitz, who has directed “About a Boy” and “The Golden Compass”, has officially announced that he has signed on to be a part of the new movie! Before everyone gets in a craze…Stephanie Meyers and Chris Weitz have both released statements about which direction the movie will go in. Chris would like to keep the movie as close to the book as possible, which we appreciate! He was amazed at what a great job Catherine Hardwicke did and would love to carry on the sequel in the same way!!! Stephanie Meyers has also written in her blog that she is excited to work with Chris and although she will miss Catherine’s creativity, she is looking forward to taking “Twilight” forward!

We’re in La La Land!!! Demi Lovato has announced that she will finally be releasing the new video for her single “La La Land” December 19th at 8pm on the Disney Channel!!! The video is said to be about the many sides of Demi’s life. There’s ‘Hollywood Demi’ with red carpets, parties, limos, and of course the paparazzi. Then, there’s ‘laid back Demi’, at home with her family and hanging out with her friends doing normal teenager stuff. Also, the video will give us a sneak peak into her new TV show by introducing us to some of her co-stars! “Sonny with a Chance” is a brand new Disney Channel show about a girl who wins a talent competition and moves to Los Angeles to star in her own TV show…Sound familiar?!? Demi, along with the Jonas Brothers, wrote “La La Land” about the pressures that come with being star! The song is meant to let her fans know that even though she has a lot of attention, she’s determined to stay grounded!!! Mark your calendars for this fun video premiere - you don’t want to miss it! We’ve already had Barbara Walters’ top ten list, and now Forbes is releasing their list for 2008’s top 10 breakout stars! This time, most of our favorite stars are on it! Best friends and 2 of our favorite Disney chicks, Demi and Selena, take over numbers 6 and 7 on the list while our much-loved new vampire friend Robert Pattinson sits at the number 5 spot! The Davids from American Idol tie at number 2! And who gets the top spot this year?!? Last year, Miley topped the list, so who do you think was able to live up to that honor this year? The Jonas Brothers, of course!!! Duh! First they took over the TV with “Camp Rock”, then they dominated the Billboard charts, and soon they’ll be on almost every Movie screen in America and many more around the world!!! New Moon, New Director!Dec 8, 2008 Looks like the sequel to “Twilight” isn’t going as planned! Catherine Hardwick, the director of the first movie, has announced that she will not be directing “New Moon” :-( But don’t freak out!!! Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are still on board to come back to star in the new movie! Catherine has stated that she has given up the role as director on the sequel because the film is being pushed for a late 2009 or early 2010 release date and she would like to have more time to make the best film possible! Catherine has stated that she is truly sorry, but thanks all of the fans for making “Twilight” a huge success, and she also wishes the upcoming “Twilight” movies the best of luck! “Twilight” gave Catherine the honor of having the biggest movie release ever by a female director! We wish the best for Catherine on all of her future projects!!!

We know what we’re doing to celebrate New Years Eve…Do you?!!! This year on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” the Jonas Brothers and Taylor Swift will perform live in Times Square in New York City!!! Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve special has been a tradition for over 35 years, and always features the biggest celebrities and musical acts! Since 2005 Ryan Seacrest has taken over the main hosting duties for the show from Times Square, while Dick Clark reports live from the studio. Dick is smart – it can get super cold out there!!! This year Ryan will have a little help cohosting from sassy celebs Kelli Pickler and Fergie! Kelli will be reporting live from the streets of New YorkHollywood! Some of the acts performing in Hollywood include Fall Out Boy, Jesse McCartney and the Pussycat Dolls. So get your party hats, noise makers and confetti ready! Raven-Symone is taking on a new job…Babysitter! Raven has been cast to star as Chris in the sequel of the popular 80’s movie “Adventures in Babysitting”! The movie is about a high school senior who gets stuck babysitting three middle-schoolers after her boyfriend cancels their date. Soon after arriving at the job, Chris gets a call from her best friend, who is stuck downtown and urgently needs a ride home… Let the Adventures begin!!! The movie follows the kids through all of the trouble they manage to find and get themselves into! The race is on to see if they can make it home before the parents!!! “Further Adventures in Babysitting”, set to come out in 2010, will also star Miley Cyrus, who will be taking the role of Brenda – Chris’ desperate best friend in need of a ride!!! You’ll never look at babysitting the same way again!!!!
The Real World 21!
Dec 5, 2008 The Cast of “The Real World 21: Brooklyn” has been announced! This year the show will have 8 roommates instead of the usual 7 that they’ve had for 20 seasons!!! “The Real World” is a reality series on MTV that follows a group of roommates from all different walks of life that have been put in one house together to live!!! All of them must learn how to live with each other and hopefully, by the end of the show, each of them has learned something new about getting along with other people, and maybe even something useful about themselves! The new cast members include: Baya, Chet, Devyn, J.D., Katelynn, Ryan, Sarah, and Scott! The show airs on January 7th, 2009 and will follow the same format as it did last year by airing hour long episodes instead of a half-hour! Make sure you get permission from your parents since the show covers some pretty deep topics!!! We look forward to the move-in date!!!
The Grammy Nominations are... Dec 4, 2008
Last night in Los Angeles, the Grammy Nominations ceremony was held! This year rapper Lil’ Wayne and Coldplay lead with the most nominations, including both of them for album of the year! Congratulations guys!!! The Jonas Brothers were surprised at their nomination for best new artist, but we aren’t surprised at all, and we’re definitely crossing our fingers for them!!! Taylor Swift was there, hosting the evening with L.L. Cool J, and she even performed a Grammy Classic – “I’m Sorry” by Brenda Lee – and went right into her new single “White Horse”, too! Unfortunately, Taylor wasn’t up for any nominations this year, but with her new CD we’re pretty sure she’s going to dominate the Grammy’s next year! Christina Aguilera, John Mayer, and the Foo Fighters all performed songs from the Grammy Hall of Fame, while Mariah Carey decided to get into the holiday spirit by singing “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”!!! Another big event that happened last night was “Christmas in RockefellerCenter” in New York City! This is a classics holiday celebration with performances each year by some of our favorite artists! For 2008, Beyonce, David Cook, Miley, and The Jonas Brothers all sang holiday classics to help get us in the spirit of the season!!! After all of the performances, everyone there celebrated the lighting of the 72 foot tall Christmas tree in Rockefeller Plaza!!! A small group of survivors from Hurricane Katrina were also invited to help in lighting the tree, and to show their thanks, because some of the wood for their new houses came from last years Rockefeller Center Christmas tree!!! It was a great night of music and celebration, and we wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season!!!

This weekend you must tune in to watch Ryan Sheckler guest star on “True Jackson, VP”! True, played by KEWL fave Keke Palmer, became the vice president at a major fashion label by chance and is now assigned to design skate gear for Ryan. True hasn’t taken much interest in skateboarding before, so she and her best friend Lulu decide that they have some research to do! How on earth are they going to get the information they need from a bunch of boys at a skate park?!? Well…By becoming one of them, of course!!! Tune in on Saturday, December 6th at 8:30pm, to see what happens when True and Lulu dress up as skater boys to get the real scoop! Will they be inspired, or will they just get into a bunch of shenanigans and mess it all up? What fun would it be if we told you now? You’ll just have to watch and find out!

The Jonas Brothers are on their way to the White House! No, it’s not to help President Barack Obama with national security, but to be the inspiration for the decorations of the Obama girls’ bedrooms!!! Malia and Sasha are such big fans of the Jonas Brothers that they have requested that their new White House bedrooms be Jonas brother-themed! Can you imagine?!? Jonas Brothers wall paper, pillows, and bed spreads, backpacks, notebooks and picture frames will fill their rooms!!! The White House will be all things Jonas! Well, maybe not the whole place! The White House interior design team have stated that this will be quite the challenge for them, but they are definitely up for it! You think they said, “Yes, We Can!”?!? If you could decorate your room anyway you wanted, what would you do?

We all know that Miley tops our most favorite/amazing/talented people list, and even grown-ups know it now because Barbara Walters has put Miley on her “10 Most Fascinating People of 2008” list!!! Barbara Walters is best known for holding exclusive interviews with all kinds of popular and famous people. Barbara scores exclusive interviews with Presidents, sports heroes, and our favorite - popular celebrities!!!! Every year, Barbara chooses 10 people who have really made an impact, and then she interviews each one of them for a TV special at the end of that year. Some of this year’s winners are actor Will Smith, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, Sarah Palin, and of course, Miley Cyrus. Dec 2, 2008 Today Britney Spears celebrates her 27th Britney took over the music scene back in 1999 with the release of her first CD “…Baby One More Time” which sold over 32 million copies world wide!!! That made her the highest selling female act of all time!!! Since then, Britney has released 4 other albums and has become one of the biggest artists out there!!! But that’s not all, today Britney is releasing her 6th album called “Circus”! Today, she performed her big hit song “Womanizer” under a big circus tent in New York for “Good Morning America”! She also unveiled that in 2009 she will FINALLY be going on tour!!! The tour begins in New Orleans in March and she will then be hitting 26 cities across the U.S. After her U.S. portion of the tour, Britney will head overseas to perform 2 shows in London, too!!! Make sure to check if Britney is coming to a city near you and get your tickets fast, because we have a feeling they won’t last long!

Dec 1 2008, This past weekend marked the 80th Anniversary of the Hollywood Santa Parade! The parade is hosted on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles California and welcomed more than 10,000 people! Before the parade started Radio Disney held Winterfest, which included a performance from Demi Lovato!!! The Parade has been a tradition for many families in the Los Angeles area and like every other year, this year was great! Winterfest and the parade were full of family fun activities, lots of food, tons of different parade floats, and of course an appearance from Santa Clause! Dec 1, 2008 Guess who we’re ringing in the New Year with?!? The entire cast of “Wizards of Waverly Place”!!! Selena, David, Jake and Jennifer have been Chosen to host the Disney’s “Totally New Year”! The show allows the viewers to take part in voting for their favorite things from 2008. Some of the categories that you can vote for include “Crushiest Crush”, “Totally Best Guest”, and “Smoothest Moves” just to name a few! And, a New Year’s Eve Party isn’t complete without special guests. Miley, Demi and the Jonas Brothers are all scheduled to show up!
